independance – celebrating freedom of expression through pole dancing
Independance
Freedom * Power * Love Dance
Pole dancing is a fabulous way to celebrate liberty and freedom.
This 4th of July, I was honored to teach Pole Teaser, Sekse’s signature Intro to Pole Dancing class.
I am grateful to live in a country where women are free to express our sexuality through dance. Yet I feel that, even in the U.S.A., women are only starting to fully get in touch with our bodies and our power. We are only starting to feel free to fully express our sexuality in our own way and on our own terms, independent of the opinion of others.
We are only starting to break free from toxic body image conditioning that has tormented generation upon generation of women. We are only starting to shed the toxic pressure to conform to conflicting and constantly changing body image ideals. We are only starting to fully embrace our bodies as they are.
We are only starting to fully live into our feminine power.
The Dalai Lama said, “the world will be saved by the western woman.” And I truly think that the dance freedom movement is a big part of that. This movement is about women getting in touch with our bodies through dance, exploring ways of expressing our sexuality in our own way, and on our own terms. It is about shedding all the toxic and incredibly distracting body image pressure. It is about embracing our bodies fully, as they are, with love. There is so much power in that. There is so much power that we have been robbed of, that we are only starting to fully get in touch with. If we’re saving the world, we need to be fully connected to our bodies, our sexuality, and our feminine power. We can achieve this through dance.
When we dance, what we are doing is important, not just for ourselves as individuals, but to our ancestors and to the generations of women who will come after us. We are serving our ancestral line and blazing a trail for the women of the future.
If you have not yet experienced the liberating and empowering experience of pole dancing and are interested in trying it out, check to see if there is a dance studio that offers pole dancing classes near you. If not, or if you would rather try it out in your own home, you can get your own home pole. I have one that I use daily. Xpole is the best, most established brand, in my opinion. You don’t want to skimp on quality.
There are lots of pole dancing tutorials that can be found online. I plan to offer more and more dancing tutorials on this site too!
